NAESS CARES VISITS EVACUATION CENTER FOR TAAL VOLCANO VICTIMS
Last January 12, news broke out that Taal Volcano located just 62 kilometers away from Manila erupted. This eruption caused the emergency evacuation of those families within a 14-kilometer radius of the volcano. Over 8,000 families have been displaced in evacuation centers due to the poisonous ash fall that fell and blanketed their homes and the entire surrounding cities. The ash fall reached Manila and even Antipolo City due to the wind direction.
Naess Cares donated cash along with the pooled money from each employee to buy relief goods such as hygiene kits, canned food, water, blankets and towels for the victims. We visited an elementary school in Lipa, Batangas where it housed over 250 people in their classrooms – some of which had 11 families staying in 1 room.
We hope to visit again soon if this situation still exists.
